A number of young people from West Cornwall have had the experience of a lifetime this October, attending sailing residentials with Hayle Youth Project.
The Hayle based charity, which is celebrating its 20th year of supporting the young people of West Cornwall this year, has offered two sailing trips this October through Falmouth based ‘Sea Sanctuary’, aboard their vessel Firedancer, made possible by funding from the West Cornwall Youth Trust.
Dai Lawton from the charity said: “Cornwall is surrounded by sea but many young people in the county don’t get the chance to enjoy it. We put on these trips to give young people an opportunity that they otherwise wouldn’t have to engage with their environment, learn new skills, meet new people and have a lot of fun! We were really lucky with both trips as the conditions were perfect for sailing, it’s been a really valuable experience for everyone that took part.”
