Hayle Youth Project has been awarded more than quarter of a million pounds to help local children in the town.

The grant from the Big Lottery Fund will transform the lives of young local people and will help them move onto the next level.

Project manager Jacqueline Hart has spoken of her delight at the news.

She said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded this grant from the Big Lottery Fund’s Reaching Communities programme.

“It means we can expand our much needed services and continue to work with local young people.”

Hayle Youth Project was set up in 1999 and has evolved from running from a small shop to now working with more than 200 young people a year from their purpose built well-resourced youth centre. It offers five diverse programmes which range from one-to-one mentoring to a holiday activities programme.

Ms Hart added: “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Hayle Youth Project team and management committee for all their hard work and support.”
